Description: This is Lily. Lily is another of our "Strollin' Seniors!" Little Lily is a sweet, loving little girl who gets along with everyone - all different types of people and animals, although because of her special needs puppies might be a bit too rambunctious for her. Lily even gets along with the turtles in her foster home! She is very easy going, and when she came to Pug Rescue she was diagnosed with a bad disc in her spine. Because of her back problems, she has some trouble staying steady on her back legs, but her foster mom has been working with her and Lily is getting stronger and stronger every day. Lily has made great progress in the loving care of her foster mom, but she will likely always walk funny and be weak in the rear. She does like getting encouragement, and when her neighbors come outside to see her walking, she tries harder for her audience!!
Lilly loves to play with toys, and like almost all pugs, she gets very excited about meal time! She likes to "talk" to her foster mom about her food and occasionally gets so excited she'll spin while sitting on her bottom!
Lily gets around really well, she sort of scoots and shuffles and gets herself where she wants to go. She can even handle tile floors, but can not manage stairs at all and needs lifted in and out of the car. Lily also needs an extra hand getting outside to go potty - the combination of wobbly legs and poor vision sometimes make it hard for her to get to the door, but she does her very best to hold it until someone takes her out. She does also need some assistance going potty, her foster mom just rubs her hind end with a paper towel to help things get moving. Lily doesn't mind this at all, and in fact, seems to appreciate the help.
Lily can go for very short walks outside, and really enjoys riding in her stroller for longer walks. Lily especially loves to snuggle up on the couch and watch TV, but she does need lifted up onto the couch. Like many of our seniors, Lily is past many of those silly puppy behaviors - so she's not a barker, doesn't chew things up, won't jump on you or the furniture, and is an excellent napper! Lily does have poor vision, and sometimes mistakes fingers for treats, so she may not be an ideal choice for families with young children. Because she only needs small amounts of exercise, Lily would do fine in an apartment or home with a small yard. Lily has lots of love to give, and is a sweet, sweet girl - won't you consider giving her a place to rest her paws in her golden years? update - April 2010 - Lilly is battling with bladder infections and is on a special diet as well as antibiotics. Her walking is good some days, not so good others. She is being well cared for in her foster home, and while she is available for adoption to the right home, she needs a special home with someone home much of the time. She needs frequent trips outside, and she requires a lot of special care. If you can not provide a home for Lily, perhaps you'd considering donating to Pug Rescue so we can continue to take care of this special little girl. On 8/2/10, Lily crossed the Rainbow Bridge in the loving arms of her foster mom. Lily received the best of care for the last year and a half of her life, and was loved and adored by her foster family. She will be deeply missed. This is what Pug Rescue is though, being there and caring for Pugs that no one else wants to take on. Sweet Lily will be remembered by many, but most of all by her foster family. She brought so much love and light to their home, we at Pug Rescue are so grateful to Sandra and her family for taking such excellent care of Lily always. She knew she was loved, right up to the end, and that's all anyone can ask for. Hugs to you, and may darling Lily rest easy now and run like the wind.
