Medical condition: Collapsing trachea, but mild |
Description: Meet Hurley! Hurley comes to Pug Rescue from the shelter in Lancaster. He's 19 lbs but is fit and trim; he's a big boy but definitely not overweight. He was neutered on 8/26 and because of one undescended testicle, the neuter required surgery which resulted in 2 incisions in Hurley's abdomen. He is currently on pain medication that is to be given every 8 hours for 1 more day. He also makes a coughing noise when he gets excited due to a collapsing trachea which is common in Pugs and the vet diagnosed it as not severe. The vet reported that the coughing should lessen extensively once he is in a stable home with less excitement and/or anxiety causing situations. Right now, because of the intubation during his neuter, his throat is sore and he is coughing about once or twice per hour. The coughing quickly stops with a few pets or if you pick him up.
He has basic obedience training and knows how to sit, stay, wait, and will always come to you when he's called. He is very alert, eager to please and wants to be close to his foster family no matter where they are at in the house or yard. Hurley plays well with the other 2 dogs in the house and sleeps well in a crate. The vet and foster parents both think that he may have had prior crate training.
Hurley is passionate about feeding time, very much enjoys being held, and, so far, doesn't show much interest in dog toys. Although we've only had him for 2 days, he hasn't had any accidents in the house or shown any signs that he's not potty trained so we believe that he's potty trained. Overall, he's a fantastic dog, mellow but playful personality, loving and is very handsome. If you'd like to add this wonderful boy to your family, contact us to find out how to meet him! |
