***KUSHI IS CURRENTLY ON MEDICAL HOLD AND NOT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION YET*** Meet Kushi! Kushi is a sweet, bouncy, happy baby boy who is in dire need of Pug Rescue's help. Kushi had a seizure when he was four months old, and his owners took him to the vet. Tests revealed he had a liver shunt, and would need surgery to live a normal life. Apparently they could not afford this very expensive procedure, and since he *seemed* fine, they kept him until just recently. He's just a little over a year old, and was starting to show signs, some listlessness, some "off" days. So they took him to the vet to be euthanized. Lucky for Kushi, the vet refused, so his owner took him to the shelter, and dropped him off with all his vet records. Kushi is now safely in our hands, and we have started doing all the tests and medications that are needed prior to this surgery. Kushi did have a bile acid test done, normal values are 13 before a meal and 25 after. His values are all well over 200. Not good. We are hoping to schedule surgery for Kushi soon, this month, because the longer he waits, the higher his chances are of long term problems, up to and including brain damage. Right now, Kushi is an active, playful, normal young puppy, and with this surgery, our vets feel he can live a long and healthy life. But we need your help. Like Ava, Kushi comes to us at a time of year when our funds are low and budgets are tight. We can't turn our backs on these dogs, and we hope that you will help us raise money to pay for their surgeries. Kushi is already well over the $1,000 mark, and surgery is estimated to be between $1,500 and $2,500. We think he's worth it. Do you?
