Description: Meet Sid! Sid is a 2-3 yr old male pug who was found by animal control wandering as a stray and mostly blind due to severe injuries to his eyes. Poor little guy. Pug Rescue of San Diego County kindly took this little man under their wing since he was going to need some help. You can see in the photos how bad his eye looked before surgery. Poor baby. Upon a visit with the ophthalmologist it was determined that Sid's right eye had been damaged and left untreated for so long that it was beyond repair, so the best course of action was to remove it. Sid's left eye has some scarring from an old injury, but he can still see out of it. He will need eyes drops in that eye every day, but otherwise it shouldn’t need extra care in the future.
Sid’s personality is wonderful. He is very sweet and affectionate and just loves everyone he meets. Sid is a tiny guy, weighing in at just 11 lbs. He gets along fine with the other dogs as well as the two cats at his foster home. Sid is a very active little pug, despite having limited vision. He is extremely playful and loves a good game of chase or to just play with a plush toy. He is quite skilled at entertaining himself if provided with toys or your shoes…
Sid is an extremely brave little pug and the fact that he came home from an extensive, painful, surgery and still acted as if life was great and everyone was wonderful, speaks volumes about his temperament. He truly possesses that wonderful Pug character that we all love so much.
It is suspected by his foster mom that Sid didn’t have much of a life before coming into foster care through Pug Rescue. He bears scars on his muzzle that suggest he spent time rubbing his face against the bars of a cage. He was not potty trained when he first arrived and acted like he’d never really lived in a house or received much love. His potty training is coming along well, as he’s very smart, he's even learned how to use the dog door WITH his cone! He is just so happy to be given an opportunity to be a lap dog.Sweet little Sid is on Medical Hold until he has fully recovered from his eye surgery. He needs to stay in his foster home until he is cleared by the veterinarian to go to his new home. He should be available for adoption sometime after April 25th. If you'd like to meet Sid, contact us and we'll put you in touch with his foster mom. You'd be lucky to add this wonderful little guy to your life! |
