Introducing Lilo! Little Lilo has been enjoying her foster home for several months as she was struggling with bladder stones and had to have hip surgery.
Lilo is finally starting to be playful with the other animals and is more of a hyper type of pug and tends to be very excitable. She would be great with an active parent or family. She loves to go on hikes and has great endurance now that she's in shape.
Like other pugs, she is heat sensitive with her breathing, but not severely. She is absolutely
wonderful with other dogs, and she's used to cats now. Lilo is kennel trained and does well as a potty-trained dog if kept in a playpen or cage at night. Otherwise, she is unpredictable; she may or may not use a wee-wee pad. She doesn't seem to go potty in the house during the
day.
Lilo has a wild streak and is known to be VERY stubborn. She doesn't listen at all, and will run for days if she escapes and you pursue her. If you don't pursue her, she comes right back. Unlike other pugs, Lilo is NOT food motivated.
Lilo has fully recovered from femoral head ostectomy (FHO) surgery which was performed due to a damaged hip. Animals that have had FHO surgery are required to maintain a lower weight so as not to stress the scar tissue which replaces the hip joint. She also has a slipping patella that does not appear to affect her in any way. She also has a flea allergy, and is on Vectra right now. It is working very well.
Lilo will need to be on a prescription dog food to prevent the recurrence of the bladder stones.
Lilo is extremely lovable and saps up any attention she is given. She will sit by your side for hours just to be close, and she'll stare at you lovingly.
Lilo has special needs but will reward you with her adoring eyes and loyalty. |
